Hello Canine is an online training provider selling Accredited courses for people who work with dogs, and people who want to. The catalogue covers dog grooming, dog training and puppy training, canine behaviour, first aid, nutrition and wellbeing, day care, walking, kennels and the business side of working for yourself. You study online at your own pace, and a digital CPD Accredited certificate is included free with every course.
Who We Are
Hello Canine is a specialist learning site built around one subject: dogs, and the people who groom, train, walk, board and care for them. Our learners include career starters exploring their first role with animals, owners who want to understand their own dog properly, and working groomers, trainers, walkers and day care staff adding to their knowledge as their work develops.
Two principles shape everything we publish. First, welfare leads. Our training and behaviour content teaches reward-based methods only, built on how dogs learn rather than how to force compliance. Second, we deal in facts. Where a role carries requirements beyond study, we say so plainly: boarding, home boarding and day care businesses are licensed by the local authority, self-employed roles need public liability insurance, and employers often look for assessed, hands-on qualifications alongside knowledge-based learning. Our courses provide the knowledge side of the picture, as continuing professional development with evidence of learning you keep for your CV, website or portfolio.
How Our Courses Work
Every course runs online, on demand, with no fixed start date. You enrol, work through the modules in your own time and finish with an assessment. Tutor support is available while you study.
Courses sit at Level 3, with advanced options at Level 4 in grooming and first aid. Study time ranges from 10 hours for the shortest course to 40 hours for the largest bundle, spread across five to 20 modules. On completion, the digital CPD Accredited certificate arrives at no extra cost, ready to add to a CV, a LinkedIn profile or the training page of a business website.
Dog Grooming Courses
Grooming is our biggest subject, with three options depending on where you’re starting from. The Dog Grooming Course at Level 3 covers the full grooming process: preparing and bathing, drying and coat preparation, basic trimming, teeth, ears and eyes, safe handling and restraint, and styling and finishing across a variety of breeds. The Dog Grooming Advanced Course at Level 4 moves into body structure and health, parasite checks, styling in depth, record keeping and growing a grooming business. The Dog Grooming Level 3 and 4 Course combines both in a single 40-hour enrolment.
Browse all three in our Dog Grooming Courses category. Grooming is unregulated, so no licence is required to pick up the clippers, though salons and insurers look for practical, assessed training alongside knowledge like this.
Training and Behaviour Courses
Five courses cover the training and behaviour side of the sector. The Dog Training Course teaches how dogs learn, reading their communication, the role of rewards, the first fourteen weeks of life and how to run one-to-one sessions. The Puppy Training Course follows development from adoption through socialisation and positive reinforcement. For deeper study, the Canine Behaviour Training Course spans 12 modules from breeds and senses through body language, aggression and behaviour modification, while the Canine Communication Course and Canine Psychology Course focus on calming signals, emotions and problem behaviours.
All training content teaches reward-based methods. Professional behaviour work with serious problems runs through veterinary referral and ABTC-registered pathways, and these courses build the underpinning knowledge for anyone heading in either direction.
Care, Health and First Aid Courses
First aid awareness is the one subject we’d recommend to anyone who spends time around dogs, whatever their role. The First Aid for Puppies and Dogs Course at Level 3 covers emergencies, common injuries and disaster preparedness. The Advanced First Aid for Puppies and Dogs Course at Level 4 goes further into bite wounds, shock, seizures and cardiac problems, and the Canine First Aid Level 3 and 4 Course bundles both. Find them in our Canine First Aid Courses category. First aid knowledge supports a vet’s work rather than replacing it: a sick or injured dog always needs veterinary care.
Four more courses cover health and daily care. The Canine Nutrition Course explains the digestive system, essential nutrients and feeding through life stages. The Canine Wellbeing Course covers welfare, vaccination, microchipping, dental hygiene and parasites. Holistic Health for Canines looks at diet, exercise and complementary therapies alongside conventional care, and Caring for Elderly Pets addresses ageing, mobility, pain and saying goodbye.
Day Care, Walking, Kennels and Business
The final group serves people building a service around dogs. The Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Course pairs hands-on knowledge with the business essentials: attracting clients, understanding their needs and meeting your legal responsibilities. The Dog Day Care Course covers suitable dogs, routines and hygiene. The Kennel Assistant and Management Course walks through premises, design, finances, staffing and the daily routine of a kennel, and the Pet Care Business Course covers business planning, marketing, regulations and client relationships for any of these ventures.
One reminder for this group: day care, boarding and home boarding businesses need a licence from the local authority before trading, and dog walkers should check their council’s rules on group sizes alongside their insurance terms.
What’s Next on the Blog
